Big Fish Games · checked September 26, 2026. This is a customer score, separate from our editorial assessment.A ship appears inside a storm and vanishes again. Sailors attach rumors to it: a curse, a sorceress, an enormous octopus. Susan's invitation is more tangible, a pirate chest containing a world-traveling compass and a plea for help. The Wanderer has a nautical mystery before it asks you to absorb another chapter of Lost Lands history.

The premise offers a useful change after The Golden Curse. A ghost ship is a single image to pursue, even when the explanation takes the adventure elsewhere. Big Fish concentrates on the sailors' stories and the chest; Steam promises a wider island journey with hidden objects and mini-games.
Guidance or discovery?
A Steam customer calls it a relaxing day of puzzles while finding the story and voices cheesy. A more critical account objects to the many accessible locations and the need to remember where an item will be useful. That reviewer finds map guidance helpful but feels it makes progress too obvious. The two reports describe the same basic attraction and its possible cost: an adventure can remain calm while still requiring a lot of mental bookkeeping. There is no universally correct amount of help for that problem. A player who likes spotting connections across a large map may prefer fewer indicators. A player following the ship's mystery may be happy for the map to remove an aimless search. The relevant question is whether adjusting that help leaves the puzzle itself interesting to you.

Steam advertises more than 50 locations and over 40 mini-games. Those numbers support the idea of a substantial route, but do not establish that every return trip is useful. The ghost ship is a stronger reason to consider the game than the raw count. It gives the trip a particular atmosphere and a question to keep in mind.
We would shortlist The Wanderer for players who already like Susan's mix of fantasy travel and practical object puzzles. It is less promising if the earlier games exhausted your patience with a crowded inventory. The Collector's Edition includes a continuing bonus chapter and a strategy guide on Big Fish. Start the main journey first, and see whether following the ship gives those unfinished tasks enough purpose before treating the extra chapter as a reason to buy.
