Eventide 3: Legacy of Legends review: Mary Gilbert heads above the clouds

Big Fish player rating

★ 4.1/5 · 15 customer reviews

Big Fish Games · checked September 26, 2026. This is a customer score, separate from our editorial assessment.

Legacy of Legends gives Mary Gilbert a brother to rescue and a city in the sky to reach. The botanist's work around the Fern Flower becomes part of a larger dispute between humans and the Clouders. A threatened flood supplies the urgency. For readers choosing among Eventide games, the flying islands are the attraction: this installment makes a substantial change of scenery.

Big Fish describes the central rescue and the conflict behind it. Steam adds Aitvar, a house spirit who accompanies Mary, and Perun, the thunder god whose favor matters to the journey. These names give the fantasy a more specific identity than a generic evil wizard. They also tell returning players what to expect: familiar hidden-object adventure tasks framed by a different set of legends.

Steam promises 40 puzzles, 30 locations and a collection of deity cards. Read those figures as the advertised package, not a comparison of difficulty with the first two games. A larger puzzle count can still mean many small tasks. Someone buying for a long, demanding brainteaser should investigate the puzzles instead of treating the number as a measure of depth.

One Steam customer calls the game enjoyable but a little easy. Another describes a relaxing search-and-puzzle experience while finding the graphics rather childish. These are taste judgments from individual players. Together they suggest a useful expectation: the colorful mythic setting may matter more than pressure or difficulty. The same bright scene can be a reason to buy for one reader and a reason to pass for another.

Choose it for the storybook setting

Our shortlist would place Legacy of Legends among storybook adventures rather than grim mysteries. That does not make the danger meaningless; it changes the mood in which you encounter it. A floating city and a helpful spirit invite curiosity. If your favorite part of a hidden-object game is its anxious silence or its sense of decay, another series is likely to suit you better.

Think about order before buying. The rescue has its own premise, but Mary arrives with a history and a title earned in earlier Eventide games. Starting with Slavic Fable gives those references weight. Returning players can judge the third game by whether they want another outing with Mary.
