Susan is no longer an unknown visitor. In The Four Horsemen, people in the Lost Lands remember her as someone who can help, and the druid Maaron calls her back. The threats now travel across the country, leaving heat, cold and darkness behind them. That change gives the second game a different relationship with its heroine: she arrives carrying a reputation.

Big Fish describes the horsemen's search for a key to parallel worlds. Steam adds that Susan must discover a weakness in each rider. Four enemies can give an adventure a useful structure, because a solution to one problem need not settle the others. It also raises a buying question: do you want a longer tour of this world after the more personal rescue in Dark Overlord?

What counts as a hidden-object scene?

Steam advertises more than 50 locations, over 40 mini-games and interactive search scenes. One customer who disliked the game says the searches use sequences of items rather than conventional written lists. Another found the adventure rewarding when played without hints. Those are more revealing distinctions than calling it easy or hard. A sequence can ask you to work out what an object does, while a list mainly asks whether you can see it. The first reviewer also enjoyed the art and music but found the story uninteresting and some voices grating. That is a useful warning for a game whose journey depends on revisiting characters and locations. A large scene count will not improve the experience if the conversations between those scenes are what make you want to stop.

The Four Horsemen is a stronger recommendation for someone interested in inventory puzzles than for someone who wants one densely packed picture after another. Its fantasy has room for four distinct antagonists, and Susan has a reason to know more than she did on her first visit. Starting with Dark Overlord still gives her reputation a history instead of asking you to take it on trust.

The Big Fish Collector's Edition lists a bonus perspective on the story, collectibles, extra puzzles and a strategy guide. The guide is useful to consider if you want to solve difficult sections without abandoning the wider case. Buy the main adventure for the kind of searching you enjoy; a large extras menu cannot change that basic preference.
