A botanist answering her grandmother's call is an appealingly modest start for a fantasy adventure. Heritage Park contains an endangered plant, a problem Mary can plausibly help solve. Then Boruta kidnaps her grandmother, and the creatures living in the park become possible allies. Eventide builds its rescue around a place with inhabitants, rather than treating every unusual creature as another enemy.

Both storefronts describe the park as a meeting point between humans and beings from Slavic folklore. That is its clearest reason to exist in a crowded hidden-object catalog. It offers a different stock of stories and faces without asking the player to learn a complex combat system. The botanical profession also makes collecting plants feel less arbitrary than it might in an adventure starring a detective.

Steam advertises 38 locations and 43 hidden-object scenes and points to the Fern Flower mystery. Those are publisher specifications, not our measured totals. The scene count makes object hunting a meaningful part of the pitch. If you prefer solving a few larger mechanical puzzles to repeatedly searching illustrated scenes, look at gameplay before assuming the folklore changes the underlying activity.

A caution for completionists

A Steam customer describes the game as short and charming. Another, playing on expert difficulty, reports frustration with repeated search scenes and a missable note tied to an achievement. The second account is especially relevant to completionists. Finishing the rescue and collecting every piece of optional information are different goals, and a relaxed first visit may not satisfy someone who wants every achievement in one pass.

Eventide is interesting as an accessible introduction to a fictional world inspired by Slavic tales. It should not be used as a reference book about those traditions. The publisher draws on folklore to make an adventure, and adaptation selects and changes things. Enjoying the creatures is enough; the game does not need to carry the burden of teaching an entire culture.

The buying decision comes down to whether the setting makes familiar scene searching worth returning to. We would shortlist it for readers tired of haunted mansions but still fond of illustrated puzzle adventures. The Collector's Edition is linked here.
